The scot-rail.co.uk wiki holds a vast amount of information on Scotland's railways. From past and present locomotives and rolling stock found in Scotland to the organisations and companies such as Network Rail and ScotRail who run the railways, you'll find it all here. You'll also find information in the wiki on different rover tickets, timetables, the preserved railway scene and information on many of the current and proposed rail projects.

History

scot-rail was started up in April 1999 as a mailing list using Yahoo!Groups. It's original aim was to provide a rail-gen type group as at the time there was little in the way of Scottish content on the original rail-gen list. It soon grew to become an all round group for anyone interested in Scottish railways. Recently it became obvious that a single mailing list wasn't able to meet the needs of the different interests that the members had. In July 2006 scot-rail was split into a set of five email lists, based on the new scot-rail.co.uk website.
