The ScotRail Class 318 EMU fleet were refurbished by Wabtec Kilmarnock at Kilmarnock between April 05 and December 07.
The refurbishment consisted of:
Although the 318s are booked to be at Kilmarnock for around 5-7 weeks, some units took longer due to the amount of corrosion found on the body work. This probably being caused by sea water along the Ayrshire coast.
15/02/07 - 318264 PIS fitted at Shields Depot.
28/02/07 - 318251 arrived Kilmarnock for retrofit. Released 20/03/07

The refurbishment consisted of:
- removal up of the inter-unit gangway connection (See above for original front of unit and below for the new look)
- new cabside windows
- full external repaint (unlined Carmine and Cream, with cream doors)
- Passenger Information System (PIS)
- new saloon lighting
- new floor and wall covering
- new vestibule draft screens
- new door controls
