Colas Rail, previously known as AMEC-Spie is both a freight operator and infrastructure engineering company.

It has a small fleet of locomotives of Class 66, Class 56 and Class 47.
Colas has also hired in Class 57 locos from other operators.

Colas Rail ran timber trains from Crianlarich and Arrochar to Chirk (in North Wales) using hired in Virgin Class 57s from March 2007 to December 2008. In 2014 timber trains continue to run from Carlisle to Chirk using Colas Rail's own locos.

Colas Rail began a new contract in May 2012 to move aviation fuel for Air BP from Grangemouth to Prestwick, Linkswood and Sinfin (Derby). The tank trains switched from Class 66 to Class 56 haulage in August 2013.

Colas has also been used for haulage of Engineering trains and rolling stock moves to Kilmarnock.
