The Forth Rail Bridge crosses the Firth of Forth between North and South Queensferry.
The Station at the South end of the bridge is Dalmeny.
Construction began in 1883 and formally completed on 4 March 1890.
The bridge is 2528m (8296 yards) in length, with towers 100.6m (330ft) tall, and the rail level is 48.2m (158ft) above the hight water mark.
Line Speed over the bridge is 50mph for passenger trains, and 20mph for freights.
The load limit for the Forth Bridge is 1422 tonnes, but there is an exemption for loaded coal trains as long as it does not pass another freight on the bridge. Longannet trains usually consist of 40 HAA type wagons.
The Route Availability (axle load rating) is RA8.
